OAND New Graduate Assistance Program (GAP)
Congratulations! You've made it to your final year of Naturopathic College and are about to embark on a career in Naturopathic Medicine. The OAND Graduate Assistance Program (GAP) has been initiated to fill the GAP between being a student of Naturopathic Medicine and becoming a Naturopathic Doctor.
The OAND has developed the Business Excellence Initiative to assist members in establishing a successful practice and to provide mentorship as you embark on the next phase of your career! The New Graduate Assistance Program (GAP) is part of the Business Excellence Initiative. We developed this program as we have heard from many graduates in the past that registering as a Naturopathic Doctor and beginning a practice is both challenging and isolating. We look forward to supporting you as you take flight.
The OAND is your provincial professional association. We offer you the following member benefits:
- we represent NDs in Ontario to government, other stakeholders in the naturopathic and larger health care system
- we provide you with a spectrum of member services including an annual Convention and high quality professional Continuing Education at discounted rates
- we provide marketing and awareness campaigns and tools
- we offer insurance solutions (NDProtect)
- we offer a fully developed Member Advantage Program (MAP) to help you save money on all the key services you need for your practice.
Joining your provincial association is critical to you, as you will immediately be a part of the ND community and you will join your colleagues in building a strong voice for the profession.
The OAND is a dedicated results based organization that supports Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) as valued partners in the health care system. Click for more information on membership in the OAND.
Here at the OAND we understand how overwhelming the process can be of setting up a new practice and beginning your clinical practice as a fully licenced primary care health practitioner, so we have set up this part of our website to assist you.
The Graduate Assistance Program (GAP) has many different resources to assist you and we will build on these resources over the next 2 years:
- A Flow Chart on key steps to take to get registered in Ontario (see below).
- A Business Symposium on September 18-19, 2008 in Toronto (open to new graduates who are members of the OAND).
- Insurance Solutions including ND Protect which provides you with professional liability and clinic liability insurance at affordable prices with many payment options.
- A Series of Teleconferences over the year, beginning in October 2008-April 2009 to put you in touch with experienced NDs who can assist you with your questions about business or clinical issues. This will help you network with your counterparts and guage where you are in your process of developing your clinic.
- A Resource Area in the members-only section of our website which will provide you with business related resources including a marketing e-learning module and a business planning module.
